If you've thought about what accessories are needed for building a chain link fence, you need to put Galvanized Steel Tension Bands on your shopping list.  This band, absolutely essential to fence building,  is used in combination with tension bars (sold separately) to not only attach chain link fence fabric between terminal posts but stretch the fabric so that your fence is rigid and secure. Without this tension, it's very easy to remove your fabric and/or crawl under it.

To attach the steel tension bands to your terminal posts (end posts, corner posts, gate posts, etc.), all you need to do is slide the bands over and down the post, spacing them out evenly. Then slide a 5/16" x 1-1/4" bolt (sold separately) through the tangs of each band and tighten. This secures it in place. From here, you can slide the tension bar vertically into the bands as well as the ends of the fence fabric.

This tension band is galvanized for enhanced rust resistance, making it a long-lasting component of your chain link fence.

  • Galvanized; rust resistant
  • Nuts and bolts not included
  • For 2-1/2" diameter posts
  • Can be used for gate frames
  • Comes in black, item #10406B

How the part fits?  2-1/2" tension band is designed to fit around a 2-1/2" terminal post.

Where is it installed?  2-1/2" tension band is installed by sliding over the 2-1/2" terminal post once the post is set. Tension bands will be evenly placed on each terminal post.

How many do you need?  You will need 2-1/2" tension bands for every stretch of fence. The amount of tension bands you will need per terminal post is 1 less than the height of the fence. For example, if you have a 4' fence you will need (3) 2-1/2" Tension Bands per terminal post. There are two exceptions, if you have a 3' or 3-1/2' fence, you will need (3) 2-1/2" tension bands. For a full stretch of fence from terminal post to terminal post, you will need double the amount. Ex: For a stretch 4' fence you will need (6) total 2-1/2" tension bands.
